Click here EXHIBITIONS THE MASLOW GALLERIES (SECOND FLOOR) OurSELF: A Reflection of Us is a site-specific interactive installation created by Scranton’s The Pop Up Studio that seeks to advance a much-needed and long-overdue conversation about mental health. The viewer is taken on a journey through a series of emotional and sensory experiences. Visitors are invited to move through each gallery and allow the installation to challenge their understanding of their environment and their ability to control it. GALLERY ONE (LOWER LEVEL) HerSELF: Through the Eyes of Amy Kiser offers us insight into the an artist that found her voice as a survivor through a series of paintings and lithographic prints. Kiser’s work reflects these powerful and traumatic experiences through color washes and scratchy line work that create overlapping layers on her subject matter. The result is often haunting. These exhibitions are sponsored by Pennsylvania Council of The Arts, Lackawanna County, Moses Taylor Foundation, Frieder Foundation, Posture Interactive Agency, the Kiser Family, and Everhart Museum. GALLERY 7 (FIRST FLOOR) Preserved: Traditions of the Andes, March 9 – April 8, 2019 (WEEKENDS ONLY) For a short time only, the Everhart will explore the traditions of the ancient Andes. Textiles, pottery, and other South American artifacts from the Museum's collection will be used to discuss the science of preservation and how artifacts like these have found their way to the Everhart. This exhibition will allow you to see how Andean traditions have evolved and how some practices are continued today by living indigenous communities. This exhibition is sponsored by Peoples Security Bank & Trust NEW EXTENDED HOURS EVERY THURSDAY NOW OPEN 12 - 7 PM ART IN BLOOM This spring, the Everhart Museum will launch its first annual Art in Bloom. Over a dozen works and objects from the Museum’s collection will be showcased alongside floral designs they inspired, creating a visual juxtaposition, that speaks to art and nature lovers alike. This two-day event, held on April 26 and 27, 2019, will include a preview on April 26 at 6:00 - 8:00 pm featuring fresh art-inspired floral arrangements created by local designers and refreshments from POSH. On Saturday, April 27 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, a free public Community Day will offer guests the opportunity to participate in guided workshops, lectures, and tours of the galleries, as well as shop for earth-inspired creations by local fine artists and traditional crafters. The Museum is now accepting vendor and designer applications. PROGRAMS ADULT Maker’s and Master's Workshops offer adults an opportunity to try their hand at traditional crafts taught by a professional artist. Upcoming classes include: o Psyanky with Stefanie Colarusso Evergreen Senior Arts Club is a free arts program for adults 55+ held on the third Thursday of each month. Each class has a different focus of discussion about the Museum collection followed by the creation of an artwork. EVERHART CONNECTS: Drop-in Art Workshop for Adult Caretakers is a free class held on the third Saturday of each month led by artist-in-residence Elizabeth Parry Faist. Each class includes a brief tour of the Museum, a discussion, and art-making workshop. This program is run in partnership with Early Stage Engagement Program and the Greater PA Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. YOUTH The Science of Art is a weekly after-school program devoted to exploring how science connects with the arts. During each session, students work with a team of educators to create a work of art inspired by the Museum's collection. Register today for our last two Sessions. Session 4: March 26; April 2, 9, 16, 23 Weekend Minis our popular Saturday morning series is back. These fun-filled art classes are inspired by our current exhibits. This program is designed for students in K-6 and is be led by artist Elizabeth Parry Faist. Announcing our 2019 Museum Adventure Week Camps: June 24-28, Junior Archaeologist SCHOOL TOURS & ON THE ROAD PROGRAMS As a cornerstone of the community, the Everhart Museum takes seriously its missions to inspire and stimulate curiosity. The Museum does this by providing a distinctive and meaningful experience on and off-site.
