Click here September 2019 Edition Welcoming the 145th Academic Year at Wasatch Academy Wasatch Academy kicked off the 2019-2020 academic year just after Labor Day welcoming a student body that hails from 35 countries and 29 states. The entire week was filled with excitement as the community welcomed new and familiar faces to the campus. Dedication of the John W. & Elizabeth Lee Engineering Arts Building Wasatch Academy is excited to introduce a new world-class building to the ever-growing campus. With the generous support from John W. Lee, an alumnus of the Class of 1958, and his wife Elizabeth Lee, Wasatch Academy has entered a new era in STEAM education. From Shop Class to Industrial FabricationWalking with alumni around campus, one learns a lot about the history of the Wasatch Academy. Many alums remember one class in particular, shop, taught famously by Paul Olmstead from the 1950s up until the early 1980s. Camaraderie and Endurance: Annual Horseshoe Mountain Hike For over 80 years, Wasatch Academy has started the school year with an all-school hike. This year was no different and on Friday, September 13, 2019, students woke early to begin the 14-mile round-trip trek up the Canal Canyon Trail to reach the summit. Student Highlight: Tenzin Dhesel Dhesel's experience here has been one that is familiar to many international students. She was attracted to Wasatch Academy by the small classroom sizes, tight-knit community, and a beautiful campus. Director of Residential Life, Amie Mondragon, Featured in CFLE Network Publication The types of skills required to care for and advocate for oneself and others—self-regulation, responsibility, empathy, and discipline, among others—are becoming increasingly central to the work of schools and teachers and increasingly relevant to the lifelong success of students. Empowering Educators in Moscow, Russia Understanding ways to support students with autism and other learning differences has been a long standing passion for Wasatch Academy's behavior specialist Joe Dixon.
