Click here NEXT Newsletter - Special EditionIt is my great pleasure to bring you this Special Edition NEXT Newsletter honouring our founders Neal and Annette Plowman, who were last night announced joint winners of the Kea World Class New Zealand Supreme Award. The Kea Supreme Award acknowledged Neal and Annette’s outstanding philanthropic contribution to New Zealand, through both NEXT Foundation and the many other significant gifts they have made to community, education and environmental organisations. This is a significant acknowledgement for Neal and Annette for many reasons. They have always maintained a low profile, avoiding publicity and preferring results over recognition. But they decided to momentarily step into the spotlight so they could encourage other New Zealanders fortunate enough to be in their position to consider strategic philanthropy. They suggest a “golden figure" in philanthropy of giving away fifty per cent of your wealth while you are still alive. Neal and Annette are also proud of the impact NEXT supported initiatives are having tackling some of New Zealand’s biggest challenges in environment and education – and are keen to add their voice to telling those stories. We at NEXT are delighted that Neal and Annette have agreed to some public recognition of their generosity and their vision – and we congratulate and thank them for making such a valuable contribution to New Zealand and its greatest assets – our land and our people.
