A hotspot is a physical location about the size of a cell phone where people may obtain Internet access, typically using Wi-Fi technology, via a wireless local area network (WLAN) using a router connected to an internet service provider. Please see the item in white. Laptops and/or hotspots may be checked out at the Library/LRC Circulation Desk in Lodgepole or at the Student Success Center in Sycamore 109 on Visalia campus. Laptops and hotspots are available for free to COS students currently enrolled in classes. Either or both items may be checked out for 48 hours. Students must sign a usage agreement before checking out a laptop or hotspot for the first time. These forms will be filled at the LRC Circulation Desk and a note will be added to the student's OCLC record. Laptops and hotspots will be checked by LRC staff when returned to ensure there is no damage or other issues. Laptops and hotspots returned with missing parts will not be accepted. The student must return the item with all parts or claim the part was lost before the item can be checked in. The student is responsible for paying the replacement cost for the part (see table on website for more details).
