Joseph Doucet FEATURE: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCEInvesting in AI is good business for AlbertaWhether it be oil and gas, agriculture, health care, banking or retail innovations in big data, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) have fundamentally altered every single sector of our economy. PricewaterhouseCoopers estimates that the global GDP could grow 14% by 2030 thanks to advances in AI. That’s $15.7 trillion USD up for grabs in what is still an emerging market. The opportunity for massive economic growth and prosperity is there for cities and regions that act quickly and decisively.

UPCOMING EVENTS
ALUMNI NEWSUpdate from the BAAHello from the Business Alumni Association (BAA)! We are the alumni association that represents all graduates from the BCom, MBA and PhD programs at the Alberta School of Business. Our mission is to connect current and future alumni with opportunities and support through events, mentorship, resources and professional development. Holiday Cheer Event RecapThe BAA recently held our annual Holiday Cheer event on November 13 at Aligra Wine & Spirits where we joined fellow alumni for an evening of wine tasting, appetizers and great company. Attendees learned more about the "Big Reds" and how to get involved with the BAA, but the best part is that all proceeds from ticket sales went to the Business student charity 5 Days for the Homeless, which partners with Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS) to help combat youth homelessness in Edmonton. Alumni recognized by Avenue MagazineAvenue Edmonton and Avenue Calgary have released their annual “Top 40 Under 40” lists, and once again the Alberta School of Business is well represented. Six Business alumni made the annual celebration of the province’s younger movers and shakers, topping all other faculties at the U of A. Congratulations! 2020 Alumni Awards Nominations Now OpenKnow a Business grad who has done great things in their profession or made their community a better place?
