Take a moment to read about an the emergence of the National Disability Theatre. Founded on the commitment to hiring actors with disabilities, co-founder, actor, and MFA '20 student, Mickey Rowe, is spearheading a movement based on accessibility and opportunity.
Currently exhibited at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), this exhibition examines the history of the the influence non-trained artists had on 'professional' artists and the institutions that helped frame this subgenre of of makers based on their race, gender, and chosen medium. Call for Artists The Seattle Arts Leadership Conference is accepting submissions for the upcoming exhibition, Courageous Arts Leadership in Turbulent Times. Current students and alumni may submit 3 works. This exhibition will highlight the works of MFA faculty, staff, alumni and current students. How to apply: Email your submissions to the Arts Committee at seattleumfa@gmail.com with the subject 'Courageous Arts Leadership in Turbulent Times-Submission' - Include an artist statement and brief description of the work(s).
- Dimensions and installation/de-installation needs
- Visual Artists-may submit up to 3 works for the exhibition. 4 images maximum for each submission.
- Performance Artists-may submit concept and examples of past works.
Submissions will not be accepted after January 7th, 2019. Artists will be informed by January 11th, 2019 with more information.
Call for Proposals We invite all arts leaders to present at the 2019 Arts Leadership Conference, Courageous Arts Leadership in Turbulent Times. Exemplary proposals should address community and personal connections created through the arts, illustrate ideas through a socially just and equitable lens, and focus on issues that impact a diverse range of practitioners and organizations. How to submit: Complete the Call for Proposals form by Monday, January 14th, 2019. Submissions must include a session title and description, presenter information, and a description of how the presentation aligns with the conference theme.
The submission deadline is January 14th,
2019. Applicants will be informed by February 1st, 2019 with the status of their presentation proposal.
