JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 15 - 5 December 2019 CONSTRUCTION UPDATEKarangahape Road Overbridge (over the motorway) - Northern sideWorks on the northern side of the overbridge, expected to have mobilised last Friday, will now start Friday 6 December 2019. PEDESTRIAN ACCESS For safety reasons some activities, including demolition and removal of the existing bus shelters, will require the footpath on this side of the bridge to be closed to the public temporarily. We will aim to return pedestrian access as soon as possible, and outside of construction hours. There will be signage and detour routes in place directing people to the nearest and safest available crossing. BUS SERVICES Bus stops on the northern side of the overbridge will be relocated further along Karangahape Road, outside Blackboard Café. There will be signage to help direct passengers to the temporary bus stop (see map below). Below is an image of what the new bus shelters and cycleway will look like once construction in this section is completed. Artist impression of the overbridge (showing southern side of the bridge).
