MINDSET NewsJuly 2017In our inaugural issue of MINDSET News, join MINDSET on our Fun Day and Mini-MINDSET Day where mental health clients had a delightful time, as we reached out to change attitudes on mental illness. If you’re feeling peckish or need a recharge, drop by the newly-opened MLH Café for a cuppa and a snack over the weekend. Our Jardine Ambassadors too had lots of fun and action at over a team bonding session. We were also featured in The Business Times, which shared some of MINDSET’s efforts to de-stigmatise mental health issues and highlights of our contributions to this cause. MINDSET Fun DayWe organised our 2nd Fun Day of the year on 27 May. A total of 37 clients from the Institute of Mental Health and 16 Jardine representatives from Cycle & Carriage, Dairy Farm Singapore, Jardine Lloyd Thomson and Mandarin Oriental spent a day at Jurong Bird Park to interact with one another. The day started with an ice-breaker session followed by two awe-inspiring bird performances and finally exploring the rest of Jurong Bird Park. A good hearty local meal to end the day was served. Guests also received MINDSET gift bags, specially packed by the Jardine Ambassadors. MINDSET Fun Days are quarterly events organised to allow mental health clients and MINDSET representatives to interact. It also gives caregivers a rest day from their usual caregiving duties.

Jardine Ambassadors Group BondingOur Jardine Ambassadors (affectionately known as JAs) had their first group bonding activity on 30 June 2017. They started the day with an “amazing race”, where JAs dashed about to find answers to puzzles within a housing estate. There were also questions specially designed to pit our JAs to the test on their knowledge about MINDSET. JAs also had to take wefies at different spots around the vicinity. Having exercised their brains for the morning, the afternoon was focused on their brawn via Bubble Soccer, where our JAs bumped, tumbled and rolled around, all in the name of fun. Bubble Soccer required the JAs to put on a 10kg bubble suit (as the name suggests) and play soccer. Though some may have felt a little discomfort putting on the suits, the fun, laughter and company made everything a lot better and strengthened their bond. The day concluded with dinner and drinks, where prizes were awarded to not just the top three teams but everyone who participated.
