COVID-19 related complaints and notifications

IBAC received just over 250 complaints, notifications and enquiries relating to policing of the Chief Health Officer's directions and the broader public sector response to COVID-19 from 1 March to 31 December 2020. The complaints and notifications related to the conduct of police as they enforced the Chief Health Officer's directions, as well as complaints that police were not doing enough to enforce the directions.

2020 Corruption Perception Index shows COVID-19 impact on corruption

Transparency International's latest Corruption Perception Index highlights the impact of corruption on government responses around the world to COVID-19 by comparing countries' performance to their investment in health care and the extent to which democratic norms and institutions have been weakened during the pandemic. IBAC resources help Victorian state and local government be alert to corruption risks during emergencies and crises and provide suggested prevention measures to help minimise risk.

Corruption Prevention & Integrity Insights forum

We're preaparing to hold the next Corruption Prevention & Integrity Insights forum in late April / early May (dates TBC). Our forums bring together CEOs, senior leaders and managers from local and state government agencies to exchange practical tips on building integrity in public sector organisations. Advice on identifying and dealing with corruption and misconduct risks will be shared. The forum will be held online, please stay tuned for further details.
