Click here ![]() Komiti Māori (22 April 2020) Cancelled Kia ū ki ngā tikanga hei manaaki i a tātou mō apōpōDue to the developing effects of Covid-19 we will be cancelling the next Komiti Māori Hui which was scheduled for 22nd of April at Te Rereatukahia Marae, Katikati. Bay of Plenty Regional Council are following direction from central government for hosting and attending events and gatherings; including cancelling larger events and reviewing plans and attendance on a case by case basis. This includes any Council meetings. We intend to continue with the June hui, to be held at the same Marae (subject to availability), however this is dependent on government direction and the developing effects of Covid-19. The scholarship is worth $2,500.00 and will be awarded to four recipients. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist tauira by providing financial support for education, activities, research and other projects that align and focus on Te Taiao, whether raising environmental awareness and understanding, and/or focusing on environmental education and katiakitanga. Kaituna Re-diversion overview Here's an overview of the Kaituna River re-diversion and Te Awa o Ngātoroirangi/Maketu Estuary enhancement mahi recently completed; from construction work that began in June 2018 to the opening of the new re-diversion control gates on 12 February 2020. The project was completed on budget and five months ahead of schedule. Mātakitaki mai! Regional Tertiary Commuter Services![]() Bay of Plenty Regional Council in partnership with University of Waikato and Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology have created a free tertiary bus service for students. It is currently a one year trial until 20 December 2020 with daily runs from: Whakatāne to Tauranga- return The cost is FREE for Tertiary students with an appropriate Student ID. The Action Plan was approved late last year by Te Maru o Kaituna River Authority (TMOK) to ‘give life’ to Kaituna he taonga tuku iho - the Kaituna River Document. It outlines what will be done by TMOK partners over the next ten years to deliver on the vision, objectives and outcomes of the Kaituna River Document.
