NOTICES:
Safety of our Students: It is important for the safety of our students and local residents that all parents who drive to school in the mornings and afternoons are adhering to the road rules. We ask you all to consider the following: Do not speed on our surrounding roads as many families walk to and from school and this compromises their safety.
Do not park on the zig zag lines at the front of the school as this impacts on our students safely crossing the road.
Do not park across the driveways of our neighbours, as this will disrupt access to their private property. As a school we suggest walking or catching public transport to school to where possible. If you have to drive, there is often ample parking spaces a little further away from the school, which may also alleviate the congestion and stress of the morning. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter and your consideration of our local community.
Equipment - Parents please ensure your child comes into school with all the equipment and food they will need for the day. The front office will not be responsible for taking things to classroom as this is disruptive to children's learning. Reminder to Parents No bicycles or scooters are to be ridden in the school gates, this includes when coming to collect from after school clubs. No climbing is permitted on the bicycle racks. Lunch boxes! Please remember that our school is nut free, therefore any products containing nuts (peanut butter, breakfast bars etc) cannot be sent in to school for packed lunch or to the breakfast club. It is important that we are vigilant around this issue as we have staff and students with allergies to nuts. Uniform From time to time a piece of uniform (jumper, cardigan, tie) might be misplaced or left in the lunch hall. It is important that you clearly label all items of uniform so that when they are found we can return them to you promptly. Any pieces without names go directly to lost property.
Settling in and making friends! What a great week it has been in Reception! All of the children have now started and we are busy making friends and settling in to our new environment. We have started learning some sounds and practicing our counting and name writing every day. We look forward to telling our families all about the fun things we have
been learning!Next week, we will not have PE because there are class photos on Wednesday so please do not wear PE kits to school.
Habitat HomesIn PBL this week Year 1 have been learning about different habitats around the world and the animals that live there. We played a game of habitat match where we had to work in a pair to identify which animals belong to which habitat. We then thought about why they were suited to their habitat. We moved on to look at native habitats
and animals that live in the UK. It was particularly interesting to think about our urban habitat and the animals and plants that live near us.
'Eldorado'This week in Year 2 we have created our own paper marionettes, of the knight from our poem Eldorado. We used chop sticks and fish wire to animate our marionette. It was a little fiddly but we showed a lot of grit!
Creating shapes and shadows in Year 3This week the children of Year 3 have deepened their understanding of how shadows are created using mini puppets and even their own bodies. After exploring how to create a crisp shadow, the children have worked in small groups to plan a shadow puppet performance for one verse of The Highwayman. This has meant
the children have had to co-operate well, to ensure everyone's ideas are heard.
Epping ForestOn Monday, Year 4 visited Epping Forest to immerse themselves in the setting from our poem, 'The Listeners'. When we arrived, we enjoyed eating our lunch and playing as a year group to build relationships. After this, we walked into the forest and completed a range of activities, deepening our understanding of the setting. We
carefully sketched insects and plants. We demonstrated our knowledge of the story by 'stepping' it in an authentic context.
Craft certificate winners this week are: Adrianna, Raymond, Noor, Maja, Phoebe, Jessiah, Shailah, Kiana, Alessia, Amir, Beatrice, Hiya, Furqan, Hanifa and Joseph! Well done!
Hot Choc Friday Every Friday one student from each year group is nominated by their teachers to come to the Primary office and share a cup of hot chocolate with Mrs Drummond. The children that are nominated have gone 'Above and Beyond' throughout the week, showing kindness and working in the zone. Last week was our first celebration -
congratulations to Esme, Zayn, Jase, Yuxi and Helena!

MacMillan Coffee Morning We are participating in 'The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning' on Monday 1st October to help raise funds for people facing cancer. Last year alone we contributed to raising over £27 million and together we can make this another successful year. We will be hosting our coffee morning
from 8am to 9am in the Primary hall, and we would love to see everyone drop in for a coffee, a tea, a piece of cake or a chat to help support this worthy cause! If you can donate any baked goods (which are nut free!) for the event please can you contact either Mrs Drummond or Miss Kyrk.
