I am excited to advise that Group GSA have been engaged to commence the detailed master planning of the Australian Korean Memorial Gardens and Cultural Centre at Bressington Park. We are eager to begin this important project. Lastly, In accordance with Council’s resolution on 4 October 2016 (Minute Number: 318/16), Council wishes to update you on the judgement from the Land & Environment Court in relation to its fight against amalgamation. Council maintains its opposition to forced amalgamations and its stance to standalone. On 20 September 2016, His Honour Justice Tim Moore of the Land and Environment Court handed down his judgement in relation to Strathfield Council’s proceedings against amalgamation. Justice Moore declared that the report furnished by the Delegate to the Boundaries Commission was not a valid report under the Local Government Act. Since the judgment, the State Government has not confirmed how it intends to deal with the Delegate’s Report issue. Council is reviewing its legal options. The outcome of Woollahra Council’s appeal to the Court of Appeal may also provide further guidance to councils who continue to fight against amalgamation. By comparison, the original tractor only cut 2.5m wide. It also has a zero turn capacity and the operating weight is less than half of the tractor therefore reducing the impact on playing surfaces, especially during wet weather. The new Toro significantly improves our delivery of services to sporting groups.
