Education Week celebrations - 3 to 7 August 2020

Education Week will be a little different this year but there are lots of ways to get involved virtually. The theme for 2020 is ‘Learning together’, a celebration of the partnerships between students, teachers, parents and the community that have kept education going through these exceptional times. The activities we will be undertaking during the week are:

  • Monday 3 August - EdWeek20 launch video live stream at 10am
  • Tuesday 4 August - An Aboriginal languages webinar for all ages at 10am plus other surprise events throughout the day for National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day
  • Wednesday 5 August - A 60-minute virtual student film festival featuring the best ‘Film by … Aussie Kids’ videos and a word from patron, Bryan Brown, at midday.

As part of the celebrations a special webinar will be presented for parents and carers on technology commonly used in NSW public schools, presented in partnership with the NSW P&C at 7pm. Details of the webinar will be posted on Facebook.

NSW Premier's Sporting Challenge

This year our school has registered to participate in the NSW Premier’s Sporting Challenge.

The purpose of the Challenge is to encourage students to participate in sport and physical activity to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Over the ten week period of Term 3 our Year 7 and 8 students will be monitoring physical activity levels during class time, at recess and lunch as well as during sport lessons. Physical activity outside school hours will also count towards the Challenge award. The aim is to work towards an average at least 60 minutes of activity a day for ten weeks.

FT2E Program needs business and industry mentors

Take a moment to reflect on your educational or career journey. Did you have an inspirational teacher? Or maybe you had a co-worker or a manager who took you under his or her wing and showed you the ropes?

If you were lucky enough to have someone who helped you along the way, then you know firsthand the value of mentoring.

We are seeking your business and industry expertise, to pay forward your knowledge and experience on any platform you wish to present to students, whether it be face-to-face classroom style, zoom or video content to be shown in the classroom during scheduled lesson times.
