Coronavirus Updates and Resources

SLSNSW has updated key sections of its Coronavirus webpage with new advice and resources including an updated Return to Sport Plan, and updated COVID Safety Plan Templates. Clubs are requested to update their Officer Positions in SurfGuard with the new COVID Coordinator position. 
Record keeping is now mandatory and clubs can choose to use paper forms or online check-in platforms using QR codes, website or SMS options. Records are to be kept for at least 28 days and stored confidentially and securely.

A strong field of 179 finalists has been named in the 2020 Surf Life Saving NSW Awards of Excellence.
On Saturday 29 August 2020, hundreds of Surf Life Saving NSW club members will celebrate our high achievers at the first ever virtual Awards of Excellence.

Blackroll Activation and Recovery Series

Lifesavers to Row 24 Hours for Mental Health

After the success of the Avalon Beach 24 Hour Row over the past two years, the event is expanding in 2020 with a total of 14 SLSCs signing on to row and raise money and awareness for mental health charities Gotcha4Life and One Eighty this August.

NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation

SLSNSW has been recognised for the amazing support our volunteer lifesavers, professional lifeguards and staff provided in the devastating NSW Bushfires crisis. Because of our exemplary response, our members are eligible to receive the NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation.

SLSNSW is working directly with clubs and branches on the identification of eligible SLSNSW members.

Branches should return a completed list of members they think are eligible to us by Monday 20 July 2020. If you have any questions regarding this please contact Claire Bevis, SLSNSW Membership Manager.

Updated National Pool & IRB Championships Calendar

Following sporting postponements earlier this year due to COVID-19, SLSA has determined a revised winter competition calendar:

  • The National Pool Rescue Championships will go ahead on the revised date of the 3-4 October 2020 at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre (Southport).
  • The Australian IRB Championships, originally scheduled to be held at Mollymook in NSW, has had to be cancelled for 2020.

2020 SLSNSW Awards of Excellence

The date is set and it’s going to be a massive show.

Lock in Saturday 29 August 6:30pm to help celebrate and recognise our 76,000 lifesavers and members across NSW. The action-packed live show will be hosted by Harold Marshall (Umina SLSC) and Georgie Rowe (Collaroy SLSC) who will provide laughs and even some surprise knocks on the door for our major awards.

Envirobank Off Peak Season Roster

With the easing of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Envirobank has resumed collections with the commencement of their off-peak season roster from 1st June 2020. The new roster is available on the SLSNSW website. If you require an urgent collection or have any questions please contact Carley via email at ctomkinson@envirobank.com.au or phone 0499 221 521.

Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

With over 330 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:
