ACMT CONNECTION E-News: MARCH 2018

 

The 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting is this week!

In addition to four days of incredible presentations, we have other exciting plans including:

  • Experience the 2018 ASM Stimulus Lab 'Don't Touch, Taste, or Smell!’ a sensory educational experience roughly based on the original Medical Toxicology board exam "Smells Room." 
  • The President's Reception will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ACMT and 2018 FACMT inductees.
  • 'Toxicology for Medical Students and Residents' offers an inside look at the specialty of Medical Toxicology from leading experts.

The 2018 Satellite Session 'Toxic Threats, Chemical Security and Counterfeit Pharmaceuticals' will precede ASM on Thursday, April 5, at the same venue.

The day will kick off with a fascinating discussion of counterfeit pharmaceuticals and the scope of this international problem featuring Brian Donnelly PhD, RPh, Director of the Americas Region, Global Security, Pfizer.

During the Chemical Security portion, an expert group of researchers, disaster response personnel, and educators  will provide insight into chemical terrorism and HazMat response.

March issue of JMT includes all 174 abstracts to be presented at the 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting

  • Other highlights: A comprehensive review article and expert editorial on oximes 
  • Preliminary research on using midazolam for hydrogen sulfide poisoning

ACMT Collaborates with MENATOX 

ACMT members collaborated with MENATOX (Middle East and North Africa Clinical Toxicology Association) at the 7th Annual MENATOX Conference in March in Muscat, Oman. ACMT contributed several plenary and educational sessions and delivered the Agents of Opportunity for Terrorism course.
