Nearly 40,000 customers of media company breached. Davenport, Iowa-based Lee Enterprises, which runs about 350 local newspapers and specialty publications, said the names and Social Security numbers of 39,779 people were accessed or stolen in a February cyberattack. The incident encrypted critical applications and disrupted newspaper printing and distribution for several days.

As of March 30, Lee had incurred $1.9 million in expenses related to the attack. It has submitted insurance claims, subject to a $500,000 deductible, but hasn’t yet received reimbursement, the company said in a financial filing.
