NOTICES:

Imp
ortant Notice:

From Monday 12th November, the Primary gates will not be opened until 2:55pm ready for a 3:00pm collection. This is due to the fact that many lessons are still taking place at this time and children may be working in the playground. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

Parents should not be waiting in the Front Office reception area after 4:30pm without a staff member. If you are waiting to collect from a club you must wait outside the building.

Morning break snacks are to be fruit (fresh, dried etc) not biscuits or cereal bars. Please leave these items for lunch or after school clubs snacks.

It is important that parents model good behaviour for children. Please do not swear or use insulting language in the playground. If a member of staff hears this you will be asked to leave the premises and may be banned.

Please also remember that our staff are always working for the best interests of the children. If you would like to discuss anything regarding your child please speak to the class teacher, Mrs Drummond or Miss Dilger. Please do not shout or be rude to a member of staff as this makes the situation very difficult.

Reception Rocks Christmas

Continuing our learning about different celebrations, this week Reception went on a visit to St John's church in Stratford. Rev. Dave and Rev. Robert told us all about the Nativity story and explained to us how Christians celebrate at Christmas time. We also got to explore some of other features in the church including the organ and the baptism font. Thanks to all the parents who came and helped us.

Tech Tutorial

This week Year 1 had a visit from a tech expert Mr Rollo-Hayward to tell us all about stop motion movies. We listened carefully as he told us how we could use a special app to make it seem like our hedgehogs were moving around the set all by themselves. We asked some clarifying questions and then we were ready to direct our own movies. Lights, camera, action!

Data Detectives

This week in Year 2 in our Maths lessons we have been representing data on a tally chart and a table. We have used our tallies to create scaled pictograms and then have discussed what we could see. We are amazing at interpreting data!

Fun at the Fundraiser

This week year three have been hard at work during project based learning preparing for their fundraiser on Thursday in the primary hall. The students have been making banners, posters, and preparing their presentations in class alongside making personalised greeting cards to sell. Students have been focusing on using formal language and speaking in a polite and professional manner for when they work at their stalls in order to raise money for helping refugees. All of the students have been dedicated and focused throughout the term, and have been looking forward to the fundraiser! Thank you to all the Parents who supported the event.

Touring the Past

This week's highlight has been our walk around School 21's immediate local area, stopping at bomb sites from World War 2 and retelling stories from Veterans of WW2, touching upon different aspects of life in the 1940s. Thank you to all those who endured the cold to walk with us. Our grounding text of 'Goodnight Mr Tom' is getting to its most climactic scenes now and we are all engrossed with it, very much looking forward to seeing what happens next week!

Phonics - Letter Sound Pronunciation

We have recently created some helpful resources for you to use at home, to help you and your child with phonics.  Set 1, set 2 and set 3 sounds have been filmed, showing you how to pronounce the different letter sounds correctly, including digraphs (two letters one sound) and trigraphs (three letters one sound).  You can find the videos on the School 21 website, on the primary curriculum page.  We hope that you find this useful.
