WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP?

Along with healthy eating and physical activity, sleep is one of the main pillars of good health. If we don’t get enough sleep our bodies and our minds are negatively affected.

Sleep deprivation has been used as a form of torture, and those of us who have ever lived with a new baby have experienced how difficult it is to function when you are always tired.

AT THE MOVIES

Playing At Shoreline Cinema, Waikanae this week ...

Downton Abbey

The film, which is directed by Michael Engler, is set in 1927. It will feature a dramatised version of our current Queen’s grandparents, who are hosted in the stately home we’ve come to know and love.

Since we first met the Crawleys in 1912 (or, real time, 2010), a lot has changed. Their once enormous family funds have now dwindled, and there are far fewer servants hurrying around the cavernous household.

In the big-screen version of ITV’s series, Carson the butler, played by Jim Carter, comes out of retirement in an attempt to restore a sense of Downton’s former glory.
Lady Mary, played by Michelle Dockery, provides the biggest dose of drama, as she contemplates leaving the estate forever. Anna Bates, Mary’s loyal maid and friend, played by Joanne Froggatt, tries to convince her ladyship that Downton plays an important role in the community.
