As always, please continue to engage, share your ideas and tell us how the network can support you in the coming weeks and months. With best wishes, The Whole Education team W www.wholeeducation.org Beyond Covid | Rethinking the role of schools Reframing education During the Covid-19 crisis, so many schools have been so inspirational. They have returned to their most important mission to keep children and families safe and happy. In doing so, they have positively reshaped the perception of schools – and education – for many. Read our thinkpiece on how the inspirational work schools have done points to a new, shared vision of schools in their communities. Braunstone Frith Spotlight The work of Braunstone Frith Primary School through the crisis has given a powerful example of what that vision looks like in practice. One parent described them as a “pillar of support in the community”. No doubt many would agree with another's sentiment that “I thank all the staff from my heart and you all deserve a medal. Thank You.” The school team, in video clips and quotes, tell us how they did it. Ideas and practice working in WE schools| Latest learnings from our ongoing virtual meetings "I’m really excited about what I’m learning about ways we can do things differently…and don’t want to lose some of these things when back in school." Our recent WE Network virtual meetings have included inputs from: + Tiffany Beck, Chair of Maritime Academy Trust, on effective governance and working with Trustees during Covid-19 (video and notes can be found here). + Les Hall from Mounts Bay Academy sharing their staged recovery curriculum and plans for re-integrating students (slides and notes can be found here). + WE's Seb Chapleau on schools working in partnership with their communities. Something completely different... With so many of us having had to adapt to a very different way of working over the past few months - and spending a lot more time indoors - we thought it would be valuable to find out how leaders and friends across the WE network are managing. Sam Twiselton, Karen Edge, Lord Knight, David Bartram and more tell us what they can't work from home without, and the new hobbies keeping them busy during lockdown - as well as some book and song recommendations. Thank you for all you're doing. Tell us your Covid stories at #wholeeducation @wholeeducation! |
