Justine Schofield to Cook Up a Storm
The Food and Jazz Festival returns for another fantastic day of gourmet food with Justine Schofield heating up the demonstration kitchen. As part of Sydney Good Food Month, join the incredible community of food lovers to celebrate the diverse range of international cuisine!
Applications for food, drink, and dessert stallholders/trucks are now open online and close on Friday, 28 September.

Strathfield Movies in the Park returns for another great season! Entry is free and there’s something for the whole family with a wide range of blockbuster films. Pack a picnic and bring a blanket or chair for a fun outdoor movie night!

Weed it and Reap

Stop It or Cop It
From 17 September 2018, drivers caught using their phones illegally while driving will be penalised 5 demerit points and face a heavy fine of $337 ($448 in a school zone). Remain focused and drive safely!
On Your Bike, Strathfield!
As part of NSW Bike Week, Strathfield On Your Bike Day encourages residents to cycle to work and school on Tuesday 25 September. Benefits from cycling include saving money, reducing congestion and cutting gas emissions! Ride your bike for a change and don’t miss out on a free bike tune up on Monday 24 September.
Wicked wickets!
New synthetic turf cricket wickets have been installed at Bressington Park! Thank you to those who worked diligently to enable a better and safer playing environment for the community.
Community Grant Winner Announced!
Congratulations to Dr. Caroline Arasaratnam for successfully securing a community grant from Strathfield Council! Caroline along with The Australian Medical Aid Foundation will host a Diabetes Health Expo for the Tamil community.

Throwback Thursday
Children’s Homes
A number of homes in Strathfield including the home of former Strathfield Mayor Alexander Melville were used as children’s homes and orphanages. The oldest house originally built for the Town Clerk of Strathfield Council dates back to 1887, which was later named as The Halloween Children’s Home in 1926.
