Renaming the Medical School buildingsWe are pleased to announce that the University Council has approved the renaming of the Medical School North and School buildings to honour University of Adelaide alumnus Helen Mayo. The buildings will be officially renamed, Helen Mayo Buildings North and South. The new name will be used in the timetable build for 2018 which commences shortly. Maps, websites and other material will also be updated to reflect the new name. Signage on and inside the building will be changed as part of the refurbishment. University staff and students will be advised officially of the name change later this year. Please remember that although we’ve had approval for the name change, it doesn’t come into effect until January 2018. Animal House updateThe Faculty and Infrastructure are working on an option to move a large number of animals from the current Animal House to an alternate animal facility on the main North Terrace Campus – for the duration of the construction phase for the higher floors in Medical School South. Discussions have been very positive and the team are looking at operational models, logistics and cost implications. More on this as soon as details are available. What's in a name? Our new anatomy and physiology museum on the ground floor of Medical School South needs a new name. Change of access to the Adelaide MicroscopyIf you’re visiting or working in Adelaide Microscopy in Medical School North, please note that access is no longer through the front door. Construction UpdateVisit the HSIS2 website for the latest construction updates, noisy works indicator, and how the works will impact you. Follow-Me PrintingHSIS2 will adopt the University’s policy of primarily using shared ‘multi-function devices' throughout the buildings on Frome Road as the refurbishment progresses. There will be one printer on each floor of each building in a centrally located utility area for all staff to use. Staff will also be able to print from any printer on any floor in the building just by swiping their University access card - you won't be restricted to using the printer in your specific work area. The technology also allows for greater confidentiality, as printing is not released until the owner logs their staff ID card at a printer. This service has security to Defence Force standards and provides all users access to high quality printing. It is also significantly more cost effective and environmentally sustainable. Printers will be managed by the Ricoh valet service, which regularly delivers paper and toner, as well as services and maintains the printers themselves.
