JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 30 - 17 February 2020

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Read our construction update to see what has been achieved and what is coming up on the Karangahape Road Enhancements project. 

 

Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Lay asphalt on the cycleway from Upper Queen street end towards the mid block pedestrian crossing
  • Continuing to pave the tie-in from the existing footpath to the new kerbline and the traffic island between Upper Queen street and the new crossing 
  • Installing the kerbline from the rain garden to the mid block pedestrian crossing
  • Installing the kerbline along the roadside including the bus stop kassel kerb between the mid block pedestrian crossing and Mercury Lane 
  • Starting to pave the footpath near Kiwi Liquor.  Access to businesses will be maintained while this work continues

Ponsonby Road to Hereford Street

Over the weekend a temporary road surface was created for vehicles to exit Hereford Street. This is so that works could commence on the remaining section of the speed table across Hereford Street today.

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Installing the radius kerbline
  • Starting to pave the speed table ramp and cycle way deliniation
  • On Sunday 23rd February we are planning to remove the existing surface on the corner of Hereford and Karangahape Road in front of Joy Bong Thai Restaurant, ready for the new concrete footpath to be poured on Monday
 

Hereford Street to Howe Street

Works have progressed well over the last week with the first half of the concrete speedtable and cycleway at the intersection of Hereford Street finished.  The rain garden on the corner of Howe street was also completed last week.

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Howe Street Corner
    • Installing the cesspit on Howe Street
    • Beginning to install the radius kerbline 

Howe Street to Overbridge 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Pouring the concrete channel along the kerbline
  • Pouring the concrete paving base in the traffic island that separates the cycleway from the road
  • Starting to pave the traffic island

Upcoming night works - what to expect:

  • On Monday 17 February 2020 work on cycle way will continue, including compaction and channel preparation 
 

    Overbridge

    The framing for the first sections of the bus stop shelters have been installed 

    Upcoming works - what to expect:

    • Continuing to install framing of the new bus stop shelters
    • Installing the glass roof to the shelters commences

    Access - Reminder

    • Temporary Bus Service Relocation
    • The bus stops in this location have been relocated further along Karangahape Road, outside Blackboard Café.

    STAGING & LOADING ZONES

    Below is a map of the Karangahape Road precinct showing the construction stages, temporary bus stop relocations and loading zones.

    The Auckland Transport project team are working closely with their parking enforcement team to monitor locations to ensure they're being correctly used. If you have a request for parking enforcement, please call Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
