Principal's Message - Ian Ross I hope this message finds you well. I want to let you know our plans for students returning to the College next week. Firstly, a big shoutout to the College / Campus community for your ongoing support in the educational development of your children. It takes a team effort to ensure that we have done all that we can to support every student to get to where they need to get to. Again, thank you. We are hoping that school can return to 'normal' sooner rather than later. To keep our students, staff and community safe, we will follow the health advice from NSW Health and the Department of Education. We are currently on Level 2 restrictions. This means that Hastings Secondary College will be operational next week, with face-to-face learning. Students are expected to return on Tuesday 13th July – Week A. Cross campus subjects will also be operating. There will be new timetables for most year groups provided in period 1. In returning to each campus, please find the following recommendations; All staff and students are advised to wear masks indoors. This is not mandated; however, we strongly encourage it. There will be no staff on site Monday 12 July. The first day for Term 3 for students is Tuesday 13 July, Week A, commencing at 8.15 am. Events in Week 1 Term 3 - NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association Volleyball Finals and All Schools Cross Country Championship. In line with the Premier’s announcement today of the extension of COVID-19 restrictions for Greater Sydney, the NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association Volleyball Finals from 14-15 July 2021 at Homebush and the All Schools Cross Country Championship on Friday 16 July 2021 at Sydney Motorsport Park have been postponed. With the current COVID-19 restrictions for Greater Sydney, we are conscious that this event requires travel for a number of families and staff and wanted to provide our students, families and staff with as much notice as possible. We will investigate dates and venues with a view to running the Finals and Championship later in the year and will provide regular updates for students, families, staff and schools. Thank you for your understanding and support. Attendance Matters Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children. Dr Michael Carr-Gregg Seminar Building Happy and Resilient Children has been cancelled due to the current COVID rules. All ticket holders will receive an email and a full refund. Thank you for your understanding in these trying times. Read the latest news from the Westport Campus
YOUR VOICE....OUR KIDS....TOGETHER The P&C Associations on both campuses are the voice of parents and carers and promote our College's interests by bringing parents, carers, friends, and teachers into close cooperation with each other. Our P&C Associations are the basis of an important partnership between parents/carers and their campuses. The active involvement of parents is essential for a rewarding College environment. The College P&C's are conducting an anonymous online survey to help identify the communication between our campuses and our parent/carer community to assess how well we engage with families and how we can improve. We welcome all responses. Parents and carers will receive a summary of the survey findings. The findings will also be presented at the campus P&C meetings and provided to senior executives at each campus. Please feel free to share with other parents and carers. Send in the Clowns!
