Young Guns Set For World StageSeven of the state’s rising surf sport stars will be heading to the city of churches later this year after being selected in the Australian Youth Surf Life Saving Team that will take on the world in Adelaide. Golfer and Lifejacket Save FishermanAn alert golfer has helped save the life of a rock fisherman at North Bondi this morning after he called for help when he spotted the lone figure tumble into the sea at the iconic Sydney beach. IRB Races Into Second RoundAfter a pulsating start to the Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) season at Stockton Beach a fortnight ago, competitors are gearing up for a trip to The Lakes on the scenic Central Coast this weekend. Celebration of the Life of Harold John Brown OAMA celebration of the life of the Late Harold Brown OAM will be held on Saturday June 2, North Cronulla SLSC confirmed this week. The event will be held in the Main Auditorium at Sharks International Leagues Club, Captain Cook Drive Caringbah from 12 noon with the ceremony to commence at 1.00pm. Following the ceremony Harry Brown’s ashes will be scattered at North Cronulla Beach with refreshments to be served in the Harry Brown Room in the clubhouse afterwards. Everyone is warmly invited to attend and pay their respects to this great North Cronulla Surf Lifesaver 2018 National Leaders' MasterclassExpressions of interest are now open for the 2018 National Leaders' Masterclass. The National Leaders’ Masterclass is an annual leadership and development program for members aged 30+ years who already hold a senior leadership role in Surf Life Saving (SLS). Masterclass 2018 will be held on campus at the University of South Australia from 13-16 September. SLSA are also delighted to be able to offer participants, for the first time, the opportunity to complete the University of South Australia’s’ Graduate Certificate in Business Administration should they choose this option, with financial assistance available from SLSA. NSW Volunteer of the Year AwardsThe NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards is an annual program run by The Centre for Volunteering to recognise the outstanding efforts of the 2 million+ volunteers in NSW, and to promote the importance of volunteering to the community. The Centre for Volunteering has made it possible to recognise your members by suppling SLSNSW with spreadsheets to nominate all your members in a bulk submission. Grants Gold Coast Airport Community Benefit Fund FY 2018The Gold Coast Airport Community Benefit Fund FY 2018 program is now open, closing 1 June 2018. This is a small grant opportunity suitable for all Gold Coast and NSW Northern Rivers Surf Life Saving Clubs and Branches, providing funding of up to $1,000 for one-off requests for initiatives which benefit local communities.
