2018 SLSNSW State Conference

SLSNSW State Conference - Program Launched

SLSNSW is excited to launch the program for the 2018 State Conference! The program offers a range of sessions to excite and educate members, offering both club and member focused sessions and external speaker presentations. We are sure that all members attending the conference will find sessions relevant to them, and the role they take within Surf Life Saving. There are still many surprises within the program that members will need to attend the conference to see and hear – register today so you don’t miss out on being the first to know. The program is now available on the 2018 State Conference Event page, and here you can also finalise your registrations. Looking forward to seeing you at the Conference in July!

Celebration of the Life of Harold John Brown OAM

A celebration of the life of the Late Harold Brown OAM will be held on Saturday June 2, North Cronulla SLSC confirmed this week.

The event will be held in the Main Auditorium at Sharks International Leagues Club, Captain Cook Drive Caringbah from 12 noon with the ceremony to commence at 1.00pm.

Following the ceremony Harry Brown’s ashes will be scattered at North Cronulla Beach with refreshments to be served in the Harry Brown Room in the clubhouse afterwards.

Everyone is warmly invited to attend and pay their respects to this great North Cronulla Surf Lifesaver

2018 National Leaders' Masterclass

Expressions of interest are now open for the 2018 National Leaders' Masterclass.

The National Leaders’ Masterclass is an annual leadership and development program for members aged 30+ years who already hold a senior leadership role in Surf Life Saving (SLS).

Masterclass 2018 will be held on campus at the University of South Australia from 13-16 September.

SLSA are also delighted to be able to offer participants, for the first time, the opportunity to complete the University of South Australia’s’ Graduate Certificate in Business Administration should they choose this option, with financial assistance available from SLSA.

Annual Report Guidelines For Clubs and Branches

SLSNSW has created a resource sheet for Clubs and Branches to assist in preparing their 2017-18 Annual Report. The resource sheet can be found here and other helpful resources such as Club Guide can be found on the Administration page of our website.

NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards

The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards is an annual program run by The Centre for Volunteering to recognise the outstanding efforts of the 2 million+ volunteers in NSW, and to promote the importance of volunteering to the community.

The Centre for Volunteering has made it possible to recognise your members by suppling SLSNSW with spreadsheets to nominate all your members in a bulk submission. All bulk nomination submissions must be emailed back to award@volunteering.com.au by no later than Friday 6 July.

Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!

The ALS encourages club members to apply as a means of offering local employment opportunities, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills.

There are more than 330 positions available across all contract areas:

Gold Coast Airport Community Benefit Fund FY 2018

The Gold Coast Airport Community Benefit Fund FY 2018 program is now open, closing 1 June 2018.

This is a small grant opportunity suitable for all Gold Coast and NSW Northern Rivers Surf Life Saving Clubs and Branches, providing funding of up to $1,000 for one-off requests for initiatives which benefit local communities.

Local Sporting Champions

The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accomodation, uniforms, or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed State, National or International sporting championships or a School Sport Australia State or National championships.
