COVID-19 Update

Dear all

COVID-19 is changing all the time and the changes can sometimes be confusing. Please see the latest parameters regarding COVID-19 for Calvary Hobart.

We received Tasmanian Health Service (THS) advice for visitors to wear masks within the facility and are following this advice as of Friday (16th July) evening. This will be reviewed tomorrow (20th July) and we will review our advice accordingly. You will have noted the signs on the doors.

Staff/Contractors/Randstad and Patients

NSW

  • All of NSW is considered high risk as of Sunday 18th July and people cannot enter the organisation;
  • People arriving from anywhere in NSW before 18th July must continue to check high risk premises lists and determine action; and
  • No one from a previously declared high risk areas (Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains and Central Coast/Shellharbour and Fairfield) is exempt from quarantine and must not work, be admitted or visit.

VICTORIA

  • All people who returned from Victoria from 8th July to the 15th July may enter, must wear a mask and must avoid public gatherings;
  • Staff may work but must wear a hospital supplied (level 3) surgical mask whilst at work;
  • Current inpatients must be managed under contact and droplet precautions;
  • Planned patients should be identified via telephone screening and deferred in consultation with admitting consultant; and
  • No one who arrived on/after Friday 16th July is exempt from quarantine and must not work, be admitted or visit.

VISITORS

  • All visitors entering the main doors of the hospital will be screened and given a level 2 mask (if they didn’t bring their own). This is inclusive of outpatients of Cardiac Centre and I-med;
  • Cloth masks are acceptable for visitors and returning visitors may re-use the mask;
  • We will add the request for them to bring their own onto the Calvary facebook page;
  • Please could we ask patients to tell their visitors to BYO a mask also when we are calling them (both admin and nursing calls); and
  • People visiting consulting suites that are not in the building or do not enter via the main entrance do not need to wear a mask.

Thank you for your patience with the ongoing, rapid changes and keeping our community safe.

Kind regards

Leah Magliano
