Kia ora friend of NEXT

He rangi tā matawhāiti,
he rangi tā matawhānui

A person with narrow vision has a restricted horizon, a person with wide vision has plenty of opportunities.

Looking for a way to describe the mahi and the way people of Aotearoa/New Zealand have responded to the Covid-19 crisis, I came across this whakatauki which I think is one empowering way to approach it.  The challenge of our changed world is upon us and, under a new lens, opportunities and innovation are emerging.

In this edition of our newsletter we bring you stories from all the projects NEXT supports in education and the environment - and how they rose to the challenge of the Covid-19 crisis.

We also share with you two new seed investments - and a series of heartwarming stories from one of the environmental projects we support, Taranaki Mounga, where the benefits of their mahi are going well beyond just biodiversity gains.

I hope you enjoy the read, and stay safe.

Yours in education and the environment

NEXT invests in Ipipiri Nature Conservancy Trust and Tamariki Wellbeing

NEXT is delighted to share with you details of two new seed investments. In the environment, we are one of many funders in the Ipipiri Nature Conservancy Trust, a Trust that has purchased land at Elliot Bay in Northland with a vision of creating a Great Walk in the Bay of Islands.

And in education we are funding a project run by The Southern Initiative in South Auckland, Tamariki Wellbeing, that is looking at innovative ways of reducing toxic stress for whanau and their tamariki.
