FOUNDATION HIGHLIGHTS 

New Trustees
The Jewish Foundation welcomes the following five new trustees who were appointed at the Annual Meeting of UJA Jewish Federation on December 7, 2017: Stephen Altbaum, Jay Klein, Craig Rimer, Leah Silber and Anthony Sigel. Thank you to the following trustees whose term has ended for their years of service and commitment to the Jewish Foundation: Jordan Caplan, Barry Corbin, Bonnie Goldstein and David Stein.

Investment Returns
We are pleased to report that in the first six months of the current fiscal year, being the period ended December 31, 2017, the return on our endowment portfolio was 6.2%. 

Investment Seminar

On October 25, 2017 the Jewish Foundation held its inaugural financial update for donors. The program included a presentation from  the chair of the Investment Committee, Mark Grammer, Managing Director & Portfolio Manager at Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc., and Texas Hemmalpharb, Managing Director at Pavilion Advisory Group Inc. Presentations emphasized our investment plan and an economic outlook. Given the enthusiastic response of our donor community to the financial update presentation, the Foundation plans to make this an annual event.

THE BOOK OF LIFE

The Book of Life is a signature program that recognizes donors who leave a charitable legacy through the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto. A legacy may be in the form of a charitable fund, a bequest or a gift of life insurance.

Donors to the Jewish Foundation are invited to write their story, focusing on their values, reasons for giving, special influences and people who shaped their lives. Details about the Book of Life program can be found here.

Congratulations to Laurie Sheff who is serving as Chair of this year's Book of Life celebration which will take place on May 1, 2018.

Grant Recommendations can now be made online.

In an effort to serve our Fund Holders better, grant recommendations can now be made online. Simply include the name of your Fund, the name of the organization(s) and the amount of the grant(s).

We will confirm your grant recommendation(s), verify the organization’s charitable status, and begin processing the grant from your Fund. We may contact you if we have any questions.

PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto seeks to recognize those professional advisors who have made an outstanding contribution to the community through the awarding of the PAC award of excellence. The professional selected for this annual award shall exemplify the highest professional standards and shall have made contribution to his or her profession in estate planning for charitable giving; assistance in structuring gifts to the Jewish Foundation and/or volunteer involvement with the Jewish Foundation or UJA Federation.
