- MAY NEWSLETTER -GLOBAL FOOD SECURITY CLUSTERCOUNTRY UPDATES gFSC ADVOCACY PRODUCTS The gFSC has currently launched the following 2017 key advocacy products: Food Security Component Global Humanitarian Overview 2017 The Food Security Cluster in numbers: Ongoing gFSC activities Cluster Coordination Performance Monitoring (CCPM) The gFSC has launched two rounds of the Country Cluster Performance Monitoring (CCPM) 2017 process in 15 countries (Burundi, CAR, Chad, DRC, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Ukraine, Yemen, Zimbabwe). The CCPM is designed to enable the Cluster Teams and partners assess how well their Cluster has achieved its six core functions (as determined by the IASC) and compare it with the previous year(s). The findings are discussed by the cluster teams with partners to improve performance and to take the necessary actions. Further information on the process and the results will be shared at the next Global Partners Meeting. gFSC Performance Survey The Global Support Team recently conducted the yearly survey on the global Food Security Cluster´s performance. 21 partners responded to the survey out of 68 organizations at global level, whereas 24 colleagues from in-country clusters completed the survey from 19 different countries. We are very thankful for the valuable feedback you provided and prepared an infographic on the key findings. Past gFSC events Joint global Food Security Cluster – Global Nutrition Cluster Event on the four famine ridden countries North East Nigeria, Yemen, South Sudan and Somalia, The objectives of the meeting were to: review of current collective nutrition and food security responses and identify gaps; establish the parameters for an integrated food security and nutrition response; agree on an appropriate integrated famine prevention response package; and complete plans for scaling up responses across the four respective countries through the Food Security, Nutrition, Health and WASH clusters. The meeting involved seventy participants from twenty-four NGOs (both international and national); the ICRC; WFP, WHO, UNICEF, FAO and the Cluster Coordinators for both Nutrition and FSC from all affected countries.
