Upcoming Programs & Events
Dear Families, February welcomes the 10th year of Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM). We are proud to be one of many Jewish organizations and communities across the nation to raise awareness and advocate for the basic rights of people with disabilities. Making Jewish life more accessible for all is our primary goal, which is why we are part of this national effort to raise awareness about members of the Jewish community with disabilities. We invite you to join us through our ongoing programs, as we celebrate Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month. Click here for a calendar of currently scheduled programs and check out our Partner Programs section below for additional opportunities. Don't forget, there is no bowling January 15 or February 19! The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities
Storytelling ProjectThe Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities Storytelling Project’s goal is to collect 75 stories representing the experiences of individuals living with a developmental disability in Georgia. These stories, accompanied by photographs, will include at least one individual who resides in each of Georgia’s 56 State Senate Districts. These stories will be instrumental in the efforts of the GCDD to advocate for Georgians living with disabilities. This is where you come in. Georgians with developmental disabilities are encouraged to take part in this project. Parents and caregivers are welcome to participate along with the individual. Participation includes completing an interview with the story collector and having your photo
taken by a photographer. The interview and photography session should last a few hours. The story collector will use the interview to write your story, and the photographer will select and edit photos that represent you and your story. GCDD may share these stories and photos with the media, elected officials, and other stakeholders. The goal of the project is to amplify the voices and stories of people with developmental disabilities in Georgia. We are also able to provide information on advocacy, and offer a Storytelling for Advocacy workshop both in-person and online this fall. If you are interested in participating, we will schedule the interview for a time and location that is convenient for you. We will provide you a digital file with your final stories and photographs. We can’t offer compensation for participating, but
we can offer assistance like translation. Have questions? Think you or someone you know might be eligible? Please contact DDstorytellingGA@gmail.com or 470.344.6073.
