The Dr Debbie Stach GP Registrar of the Year Award is a $10,000 cash prize awarded annually to a GP registrar who has an outstanding approach to medicine; has demonstrated a commitment to improving Aboriginal health outcomes in the NT, and; has demonstrated an outstanding approach to professionalism in their work, education and training environments. The Training Post of the Year Award acknowledges the crucial role GP supervisors, practice managers, and all training post staff play in supporting a GP registrar during their training. RDH Annual Respiratory & Sleep Meeting 2019The respiratory workshop is for GPs, nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other health professionals. Reproductive and sexual health courseFamily Planning Welfare Association of NT Inc are hosting a reproductive and sexual health course for doctors. This five-day course is recognised by the RACGP and ACRRM for all medical practitioners wanting to increase their knowledge base and clinical skills. Part 1 - Theory course Part 2 - Clinical training Venue: Family Planning Training Room, Unit 14, The Clock Tower, Dick Ward Drive, Coconut Grove New mental health screening tool for Indigenous AustraliansA culturally-appropriate depression screening tool for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples has been developed based on the existing nine-item patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) used across Australia and globally accepted as an effective screening method for depression. The adapted tool (aPHQ-9) contains culturally-appropriate questions asking about mood, appetite, sleep patterns, energy and concentration levels. The aPHQ-9 is freely available in a culturally-appropriate English version, and can be readily used by translators when working with First Nation communities where English is not the patients first language. End of term subsidy claimsAs the term is coming to an end, GP registrars can submit their eligible subsidy claims for reimbursement. Subsidies cannot be accrued or accumulated from term to term. If you have not used your entire allocation per term then it is forfeited and you cannot advance purchase into the next term. Claims must be submitted no later than two weeks after the end of the applicable term. Late claims will not be approved. Here's how to make a subsidy claim:

GP Supervisor Professional Development WorkshopDate: Wednesday 14 August Program: Using EBM for Diagnostic Decision Making, Using EBM in History Taking and Physical Examination, How to Communicate Evidence, Feedback and Feed Forward with your GP Registrar It is a requirement of your GP supervisor accreditation that you attend NTGPE supervisor workshops to ensure that you are aware of the current supervision requirements and updates to College requirements and NTGPE programs. This workshop will be accredited for 40 Category 1 RACGP CPD / 30 ACRRM PDP points. The requirements, for those eligible and wishing to attract these points, will be provided a few weeks prior to the event. Foundation GP Supervisor WorkshopDate: Thursday 15 August Program: NTGPE’s training program updates, Introduction to supervision, GP supervisor teaching and learning resources, Formal teaching, Informal teaching and GP registrar feedback and assessment All new GP supervisors must attend a foundation workshop when accredited, or prior to commencement of supervision of GP registrars; however, this workshop is also suitable for more experienced GP supervisors who have not previously attended a foundation workshop. The Category 1 RACGP CPD / ACRRM PDP requirements, for those eligible and wishing to attract these points, will be provided a few weeks prior to the event.
