Supporting our work

Will you answer the call?
Are you wondering where the summer went? As the evenings start drawing in, our students start gearing up for our annual fundraising campaign. November is giving month at QMUL, and you might receive a phone call, letter or email from us asking you to take part. We’ll be asking you to make a gift - with your help, our students can survive financially while they’re here and get good jobs when they leave. If you’d prefer to make your gift now, you can donate online. Or if you don’t want to be contacted, do let us know. Please show your support and help us to help more students.

Call for Alumni Mentors
After a successful pilot, QMentoring, our career mentoring programme, is entering a second round for the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the first for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Starting with a launch event on 24 November on our Mile End campus, mentors, drawn from our alumni community and employer contacts, volunteer 1-3 hours per month via face-to-face, email or Skype contact. Our students really appreciate your advice and guidance - especially if it’s coming from someone who may have been in their shoes. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, contact Jacqueline Steinmetz, QMentoring Coordinator, or telephone +44 (0)20 7882 3690.

Support pioneering medical research
The William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry is an internationally recognised centre of excellence. Its medical research charity, the William Harvey Research Foundation, promotes and supports fundamental research into cardiovascular and inflammatory disease, including the early detection and prevention of rare congenital diseases. Maintaining momentum for the discovery of innovative treatments and therapeutic approaches requires funding and details of research priorities and how you can support this important work will be outlined in future e-Newsletters.

Inspiring English grads wanted
Following on from the inaugural joint History and English Societies’ Alumni Careers Networking evening last February, the QMUL English Society are looking for English graduates who’d be willing to talk about their career at an event this autumn. If you would like to meet current students in an informal setting, we would be pleased to hear from you.
