UnitedHealth Care Information SessionMonday, September 13th | 12 PM - 1 PM Join the Office of Student Life, Diversity & Leadership (SLDL) as we review the university’s domestic health insurance plan with UnitedHealthcare, the enrollment and waiver process, as well as community resources available to eligible students. Student Services Block Party: Back to Your FutureTuesday, September 14th | 2 PM - 6PM Back to Your Future is a large outdoor event lining the streets outside the south side of the Library along 8th Street and College Way with booths featuring free food, games and more fun. A DJ/MC playing music, a festive atmosphere and prizes throughout the event will make for a great time. Balloon arches, mascots (invited) and inflatables or games will dot the landscape creating a fun, festive environment. Wednesdays at the Drive-inWednesday, September 15th | 8 PM Please join us for a movie night at Mission Tiki Drive-in Theatre!! Stop by the SLDL table for free food and say hello to the staff and other students! First come first serve. A Mission Tiki snack bar is also available. The movies begin at 8:30 PM. Student tickets are $10 for a double feature, kids' tickets (ages 5 to 9) are $1, and kids under age 5 are free. Friendly reminder to bring your masks. GSC Welcome Back: Bridging the GapThursday, September 16th | 5 PM - 8 PM at the Blaisdell Fountain We will have booths hosted by CGU student groups, organizations, and university offices to provide a chance to chat with folks across the university. This event will have food from an In-N-Out food truck from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm, music, and an opportunity to come together, rejoice, and mourn our collective losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic over the last year and a half through a commemorative tree planting ceremony. We look forward to reigniting the flame and kicking off the new year together! International StudentsOptional Practical Training (OPT) Workshops
SLDL will host an Optional Practical Training (OPT) workshop, open to all current F-1 students, especially those who are planning to apply for pre/post completion OPT during the current or upcoming semester. During the session, we will cover information on what OPT is, and the application process including eligibility rules, timeline and required documents for submission. International Grad MixerFriday, September 8th | 4 PM - 6 PM Sign up for an evening of mixing and mingling with international graduate students from CGU and KGI! Location will be in the local Claremont area. International Transitions with MCAPSMonday, September 13th| 12 PM - 1:30 PM Join MCAPS for a session dedicated to transitions for international students including discussions on culture shock and how it relates to adjustment, exploring major stressors and its impact on emotional wellbeing, and how to respond and transition to the new school year. Curricular Practical Training (CPT) WorkshopTuesday, September 21st | 12 PM - 1 PM The Office of Student Life, Diversity & Leadership will host a Curricular Practical Experience (CPT) workshop which is open to all current F-1 students interested in off-campus work experience in their fields of study. During the session, we will cover information on what CPT is, who is eligible to apply, the application timeline and materials. Veteran StudentsVeterans Coffee Mix & MingleMonday, September 27th | 10 AM - 12 PM CGU student veterans are invited to stop in for coffee and conversation at Jenkins Courtyard. Meet other student veterans and CGU staff that support our veteran population. |
