Ah yes, with the New Year comes new resolutions and if you're anything like most humans, chances are they may have already gone by the wayside. Not to panic - it's only January and here at the Avantidrome we've loads of programmes on offer all year round and a fully equipped gym in our Life Fitness Zone to help get you on track! If you're one of those keen beans training for the World Masters Games, be sure to read our article below to check out the best training sessions here at the Avantidrome in preparation for race day. And if you're not so athletically inclined, perhaps you'll draw inspiration from 14 year old Nicholas Brockelbank, training hard to raise money for the NZ Muscular Dystrophy Association. Read on. The Avantidrome Team Latest from the trackWORLD MASTERS GAMESThe World Masters Games is only 3 months away and the Track Cycling will take place right here at the Avantidrome over the 3 days 26th – 28th April 2017. If you've entered to compete make sure you book in your training time at the Avantidrome. Why not try our Coached Masters Sessions, 6am Mondays and 5.30pm Sundays, or join us for any of our open sessions. Just check our programme page for details on what each session covers and book in online. If you are unsure which session best suits your needs, give us a call on 0800 VELODROME and we'll only be too happy to point you in the right direction. NIC'S Ride4MDAInspirational 14 year old Nic lives with Muscular Dystrophy and is putting in a huge training effort here at the Avantidrome in his bid to raise money for the NZ Muscular Dystrophy Association. Nic's mission is to see how many laps of the velodrome he can do in an hour and the Avantidrome is proud to support him in this journey. Regular track cycling has been a huge contributor to Nic being able to get out of his wheelchair. It's happening here 23 March 2017, 6-8am (yes, an early start!). PERRY PLAYGROUND NOW OPENThanks to the support of Brian Perry Charitable Trust, the Skeet Trust, St Peter’s Cambridge, the Avantidrome and Playground Creations, Cambridge's newest playground is NOW OPEN for fun! Grab the bikes and the family for a day out at the Avantidrome. Enjoy the brand new Perry Playground, right beside Gallagher Bike Skills Park and the Te Awa River Ride. Then you can top off your day at The Bikery Cafe! SAVE THE DATEA line up of the best Age Group Track riders will head to the Avantidrome 15-19 March to battle it out for National honours. The event is delivered by Cycling New Zealand and is the country's premier national track cycling event for Age Group riders from U15's through to Masters riders. Guaranteed to be highly competitive and hugely entertaining, it's a must see event. Stay tuned for spectator information and mark it on your calendar!
