JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 22 - 13 January 2020

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Read our construction update to see what has been achieved and what is coming up on the Karangahape Road Enhancements project.

 

Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Pouring the concrete foundation of the raingarden
  • Beginning to construct the block walls of the raingarden
  • Installation of the kerblines and preparation of the cycleway continues
  • Preparing the edge of the existing footpath paving ready to tie into the new kerbline

Upcoming night works:

  • ​From 6pm Monday 13 January 2020, there will be some ducting works in the footpath outside Coffix. This work may take 3 nights to complete. 
    • Access will be maintained around our works. 
    • The footpath will be reinstated and available as usual during the day
 

Ponsonby Road to Hereford Street

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Preparing a temporary road surface on the right-hand lane for vehicles exiting Hereford Street. This is so the first section of the speed table across Hereford Street can be constructed.
  • Drainage connections on the corner of Hereford Street

Upcoming night works:

  • From 6pm on Monday 13 January 2020 works to undertake a drainage connection along the footpath and into the carriageway near Tesla will commence. Works are expected to take  4 nights to demolish, excavate, undertake connection and fully reinstate. 
    • These works are being undertaken at night to minimise the impact on Tesla as parts of the connections affect their vehicle access.
 

Hereford Street to Howe Street

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Continuing the new paving in the traffic island separating the cycleway and the road
  • Continuing the asphalting of the new cycleway

Howe Street to Overbridge 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Upgrading stormwater connection from Howe Street towards the overbridge
  • Installation of the new footpath kerbline

Overbridge

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Asphalting the cycleway on the overbridge
  • Installation of directional tactile pavers

Access

  • Temporary Bus Service Relocation
  • The bus stops in this location have been relocated further along Karangahape Road, outside Blackboard Café.
 

STAGING & LOADING ZONES

Below is a map of the Karangahape Road precinct showing the construction stages, temporary bus stop relocations and loading zones.

The Auckland Transport project team are working closely with their parking enforcement team to monitor locations to ensure they're being correctly used. If you have a request for parking enforcement, please call Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
