Blonder WednesdaysWednesdays, September 5 – December 12 Open to participants 18+, Blonder Wednesdays captures the joy of spending quality time with friends, while teaching tangible life skills and providing education, fitness, social time, and creative art activities. Registration is now open! Social Activities & OutingsJune Karaoke Pool PartyThursday, June 28 We’re having a poolside Karaoke party! Come hang out with your friends, swim, enjoy a pizza dinner, and sing your heart out! Please let us know of any dietary restrictions at least three days in advance. Drop-off and pick-up are both at the MJCCA’s Sherwin Glass Aquatic Center outdoor pool. In case of inclement weather, we’ll move the party to the MJCCA Orkin Teen House for indoor karaoke and games! Price: $20 July Luau Pool PartyThursday, July 26 Get ready for a mid-summer luau at the pool! Hang out with your friends, swim, enjoy a luau-themed dinner (kosher hot dogs and lots of fresh fruit), and show off your best hula dance! Price: $20 Debra 'Debbie' Sonenshine SOAR ProgramsSOAR BowlingMondays Join us every Monday for a night of bowling and fun. Fee includes shoes and two games. We don’t meet on Jewish and national holidays. Cash payment is due each bowling night. Fee: $10, Open to the Community SOAR KickballTuesdays, Through July 31 Join the team! Kickball is the hottest game and we are excited to be offering another session of this fun and social sport. We will learn the rules of the game and then play some ball. Come kick it with us! Fee: $90 SOAR BocceTuesdays, August 7-October 30 If you like bowling, you are sure to enjoy Bocce. Have fun with friends learning and playing Bocce, is an Italian sport similar to lawn bowling. It is fun, challenging and a great way to socialize, stay active, and compete with friends. This program will be great preparation for those who want to join our Bocce Team for the fall Special Olympics! Fee: $80 Partner ProgramsNutrition and Healthy CookingSunday, July 29 In partnership with Adult Disability Medical Home (ADMH), the Blonder Family Department for Special Needs will be offering a two-part workshop on Nutrition and Healthy Cooking. Part of the ADMH Get Fit, Get Healthy program, the workshops will take place on Sun, July 29 and Sun, August 5 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. The cost for the series is $25 and will combine lessons from a nutritionist as well as hands-on cooking and tasting of healthy foods. Click here to register today, spaces are limited! Transitioning to Adult Services WorkshopA free workshop is being held for parents of children with special needs transitioning to adulthood. The seminar will address the unique health care challenges for youth with intellectual or developmental disabilities transitioning to adult services. The program will be held Sat, June 23 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Cobb & Douglas Public Health Center at 1738 County Services Parkway, Building B, in Marietta. Refreshments will be served.
