LATE ARRIVALS
Late arrival to school results in interruptions to the learning process. Parents are encouraged to have students to school on time. Parents who come to drop their child to school after 8:30am start must come in to the office to sign-in. All children need to be signed in using our new electronic system, which will change the class register to show that they are on school premises.
*Excessive tardiness to school may be referred to the Local Authority for action and possible court referral.
Dear all Middle School Students, Parents and Guardians
Welcome back!
I hope the Easter holiday was a fun and enjoying one. I have to say I am both delighted and impressed with the way the students have returned to school. Having settled into the new school last term there is a real sense of grit and ‘this is who we are’. From learning in lessons to our assembly, it’s a joy to finally see the middle move around School 21 with a strong presence. Well done Year 5 and Year 7.
This term Year 7 have launched their edition of the History of Surgery project, preparing for their own interpretation at the end on term.
Year 5 have been getting stuck in to their new project which focuses on the robotics.
Once again I thank you for the support you have shown the Middle School and would like to take this opportunity to recognise the Middle School team who do a tremendous job in making the school special for our children. Student, teacher and parent relationships are at the heart of School 21 and I thank you for continuing to make our staff feel valued and our playgrounds safe. I look forward to growing this powerful relationship that will allow your child to grow at School 21.
Look forward to seeing you all and here’s to a wonderful second term.
Warmest Wishes
Mr Ahmet
Super student leadership team! This week the Year 5 members of the Student Leadership Team have been very busy interviewing candidates for teaching posts for September! They were very professional in their approach, asking in depth questions and taking notes for each candidate, providing feedback to the Senior Leaders of the whole school. Aaishah - one of the members of Middle School said, "We have enjoyed talking to lots of different teachers from different backgrounds and finding out about their school
experiences."
Year 5 Robotics Launch
This week Year 5 started their new project for summer: How can we make our robot rule? The project will entail the children exploring many aspects of computing, programming and robotics over the term. They will work with a team to design and build a robot, then program their creation to complete a challenging obstacle and task course in a competition at the end of the term.
Today, we explored algorithms using the game of Mousetrap, debated about Sophia the robot, had a go at building and programming Milo the WeDo robot, gave instructions to our ‘teacher robot’ to make a jam sandwich and worked out how computer networks sort data!
