NEWS FROM THE IN-COUNTRY CLUSTERS/SECTORS L3 Response Declaration for parts of DRC: The IASC Principals have agreed to activate an IASC System-Wide L3 Response for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for a period of six months, focusing on the Kasai region and Tanganyika and South Kivu Provinces. Rohingya Crisis: A Food Security Sector Coordinator and an Information Management Officer have been recruited for Cox Bazar to provide support to the coordination of the emergency food security response. The newly arrived Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh live in extremely precarious and deteriorating conditions, requiring an immediate and comprehensive scale-up of the relief response. Given the current volatile situation, the numbers continue to increase. 603,000 people have been displaced since August 25th 2017. NEWS FROM THE gFSC New global Food Security Cluster Coordinator appointed: Mr Bruno Minjauw was appointed as gFSC Coordinator effective as of 20 November 2017. More information on his profile here. gFSC PRODUCTS The gFSC has currently launched the following products: gFSC Food Security Terminology Haiti Good Practices and Lessons Learned by the Food Security Sector. Workshop report in English and French PAST gFSC EVENTS Cluster Coordinator Retreat 2017: This year’s Cluster Coordinator retreat was held from 19-21 September in Rome, Italy. Around 20 Cluster/Sector Coordinators participated in the retreat and the feedback was very positive. The aim of the cluster coordinators' retreat was to improve leadership, coordination and performance of the food security sector at country-level by strengthening the skills of coordinators, documenting information and cross-fertilising good practices.
