JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 28 - 3 February 2020

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Read our construction update to see what has been achieved and what is coming up on the Karangahape Road Enhancements project. Please note the teams will be working through this Thursday's public holiday.

 

Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Installing kerblines past the mid-block pedestrian crossing towards Mercury Lane 
  • Continuing to pave the tie-in sections from the existing footpath to the new kerbline
  • Excavating and preparing streetlight foundations
  • Preparing the cycleway

Upcoming night works:

  • From 6pm on Monday 3 February 2020 works to remove the existing paving at the mid-block pedestrian crossing and preparing the area for concrete will be undertaken. Works are expected to take up to 3 nights to complete.
    • These works are being undertaken at night to minimise the impact on access at the pedestrian crossing and neighbouring businesses in this area.
    • Access to businesses will be maintained during the works, and available as usual during the day.
 

Ponsonby Road to Hereford Street

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Continuing to prepare for the construction of the first half of the speed table at the intersection of Hereford Street and Karangahape Road
 

Hereford Street to Howe Street

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Undertaking drainage and ducting works on the corner of Howe Street ready to lay the new kerbline and concrete footpath next week

Howe Street to Overbridge 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Continuing to install kerblines towards the overbridge
  • Pouring further sections of the new footpath
  • Preparing the cycleway

Overbridge

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Installing framing of the new bus stop shelters 

Access

  • Temporary Bus Service Relocation
  • The bus stops in this location have been relocated further along Karangahape Road, outside Blackboard Café.
 

STAGING & LOADING ZONES

Below is a map of the Karangahape Road precinct showing the construction stages, temporary bus stop relocations and loading zones.

The Auckland Transport project team are working closely with their parking enforcement team to monitor locations to ensure they're being correctly used. If you have a request for parking enforcement, please call Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
