New Strategic Framework for Tourism in Ontario

Ontario has launched a Strategic Framework for Tourism in Ontario. It is the next step in the government’s commitment to ensuring the industry is best positioned for success in the global market and will build on the success of tourism investment initiatives. The framework will also serve as an important tool to guide our work as we maximize the growth and competitiveness of Ontario’s tourism sector.

The Regional Tourism Profiles for 2014 are now available for Ontario and its’ 13 Travel Regions and each profile includes:

• - Visitor Spending Statistics
• - Hotel Statistics
• - Tourism Related Establishments

Next Stop: Taste Video Results

As you know we launched our first video series called Next Stop:Taste Ontario’s Southwest this year. Below are results from June 3rd to October 31st 2016 which includes episodes 1-4.

• - Total paid media impressions: 4,953,218
• - Total 30-second shorts views: 1,247,837 (includes partial views)
• - Total 30-second short views: 690,935 (100% - watched all the way through)
• - View Through Rate (VTR) 27.53% (views compared to impressions) compared to the industry average for video which is 10-15% VTR

Elgin County is Seeking an Economic Development Assistant

The County of Elgin has a vacancy for a Full-time Economic Development Assistant (Contract) position. Reporting to the General Manager of Economic Development, this positon performs a complete range of clerical support for the tourism and economic development functions within the department including maintaining database systems, word processing, spreadsheets, reception and filing, plays an active role in departmental communications and marketing support.

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: $25.35 per hour

Location: County Administration Building (450 Sunset Drive, St. Thomas)

Effective: January 11, 2017 to January 15, 2018 (or until original incumbent returns; whichever comes first)
