Father of JPMorgan Hacker Says He Left U.S.
Gery Shalon, who hacked JPMorgan Chase & Co. in 2014 and other financial institutions, left the U.S. and returned to Israel, according to his father, Bloomberg reports. Mr. Shalon was extradited from Israel to the U.S. in 2015, pleaded guilty in 2017 and left U.S. custody two years ago.
U.K. Warns About Russia-Based Hacking Group
Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre warned the Russia-based hacking group Cold River is responsible for a large, ongoing espionage campaign targeting government, politics, academia, defense, journalism and activist organizations, Reuters reports. The agency said the hacker group uses fake email addresses and social media profiles to impersonate people, corresponding with targets over an extended period to build a rapport.
JD Sports Says Historic Orders Breached by Cyber Attack
JD Sports Fashion PLC said Monday that it has been the target of a cyber attack, which resulted in the unauthorized access to some online orders data system from 2018 to 2020. The U.K. online retailer said that the breached data is limited and the affected brands are JD, Size?, Millets, Blacks, Scotts and MilletSport. The data that might have been accessed consists of the name, billing address, delivery address, email address, phone number, order details and the final four digits of payment cards of approximately 10 million unique customers, JD said. — Dow Jones Newswires
