The newly-released programme comprises an excellent group of senior, expert speakers from across the TMT ecosystem, who will discuss issues including 5G, privacy, internet regulation and much more. I urge you to register your place now, to ensure you benefit from the wealth of insights and experience our speakers bring to the table. The packed programme includes a session on national policy objectives for the TMT sector, and priorities for international collaboration and cooperation. Chaired by Ambassador David Gross of Wiley Rein, the speakers include Diane Rinaldo, Acting Assistant Secretary, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Department of Commerce; Robert L Strayer, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyber and International Communications and Information Policy , Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, US Department of State and Peter Fatelnig, Minister-Counsellor, Digital Economy Policy, Delegation of the European Union to the USA. Other confirmed speakers for the DC TMF include; Dr Lynne E Parker, Office of Science and Technology Policy, The White House; Je Myung Ryu, Senior Digital Development Specialist, The World Bank; Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, Federal Trade Commission (FTC); and Bryan S. Ware, Assistant Secretary Cyber, Infrastructure and Resilience Policy, Department of Homeland Security. One of the themes to be discussed in DC is the upcoming European agenda regarding digital/platform regulation, with a comparison to the US situation. This month’s open access article from our journal, Intermedia, provides useful context on platforms, as Brian Williamson proposes regulators approach them in an evidence-based manner to realise their benefits and mitigate any harms resulting from their use. Our Chapters around the world have also been busy, and you can read their reports below. There are just a few places remaining for the Europe Chapter’s event in Brussels on 25th November, so register your place now if you have not already done so. As we head towards the end of the year, we are finalising plans for events around the world and will let you have further details as soon as we have confirmed dates. November’s newsletter also contains a roundup of the latest news, industry updates and highlights from around the regulatory world. If you have a colleague whom you think would benefit from connecting with us, we appreciate you passing this on, and we look forward to welcoming you to one of our events soon. Best wishes Andrea Millwood Hargrave Telecommunications & Media ForumWashington DC, USA
