What a beautiful closing to a wonderful month in which our school said a decade of the rosary together in the mornings. Seussical, Jr. a Big Hit! Our fall production was such a treat! Everything from the set, to the costumes, and the singing and dancing was spectacular! Once again, Mr. Bridges' directorship did not disappoint as he guided a cast of fifty seven of our students in grades 1 - 8 in learning to share their God-given talents in this delightful musical. We are blessed with great families that dedicate many hours of their time to help pull off a production such as this. Our school community is grateful to all who played a part in helping our children shine! Please enjoy this video montage of scenes from the play. Living Rosary Our school-wide living rosary at the end of October was a beautiful service. We especially enjoyed having some of our family members join us. Special thanks to Mrs. Elliott for organizing and Ms. Wheeler for handling everything the day of the event. December Spirit Night All Saints Day Fourth Grade Field Trip Makerspaces Teacher For a Day! At last year's BALL one of the auction items was the chance to be kindergarten teacher for a day. A few weeks ago Sarah Rose had the opportunity to fulfill a dream of hers and be our kindergarten teacher for a day! Sarah had a wonderful time preparing and teaching lessons and doing crafts. She made a lot of new friends who still yell out "Hey Miss Rose" when they see her in the hallways. Look for this and other fun, "priceless" items at this year's BALL! The next P.E. challenge is the Flag Football challenge on December 10. Don't forget to sign up to help with a P.E. Challenge! You may sign up anytime by clicking on the button. A reminder will be sent to you just prior to the challenge. Spreading Love to the Community... Students in grades K - 8 colored place-mats for the Jimmy Hale Mission Thanksgiving dinner. This school-wide service project is done each year and gives the children a chance to spread some OLV love to their community. December Virtue of the Month... Trustworthiness The virtue for December is trustworthiness. The meaning of the virtue as it will be presented in lessons is, "acting in a way that inspires confidence and trust; being reliable". Here's what the focus will be by age group: Is Your Family Name Here? The first batch of bricks have been laid and they look beautiful! What a way to honor someone special! If you missed out on this run, no worries... we will be taking orders again in January for the second batch. Be looking for more information in the December newsletter and Weekly Announcements. Announcement From Our Director of Catholic Schools Our diocese has developed a strategic plan for the continued development and improvement of our Catholic Schools. We invite you to preview this short video of introduction and to peruse the plan set forth by the Office of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Birmingham. MIDDLE SCHOOL EXAMS Middle school exams will be December 17-19. Please mark these days on your calendar and arrange any appointments for after lunch each day. More details will be available in December. LEMONADE FOR A CAUSE In honor of their classmate Kiera, who so bravely fought the battle against Childhood Cancer, our 4th grade hosted a lemonade stand fundraiser. The class organized, advertised, (see the jingle they made below), and ran the lemonade stand with virtually no adult intervention and did an outstanding job! The event raised a whopping $1,161.66! All proceeds from the fundraiser will be going to Alex's Lemonade Stand, an organization dedicated to "...funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer." Kiera will forever be in our hearts and her fighting spirit guides us as we continue to honor her and all those who face Childhood Cancer. We are so proud of our 4th grade class for doing what they can to make a difference in the lives of others and we are very grateful to all who donated! OLV has the best families! SCRIP If you are planning on getting gift cards for Christmas gifts, why not help the school at the same time? Scrip can be ordered at any time throughout the school year and includes many popular businesses that we all regularly visit. For a complete list of participating vendors, click HERE.
