China spying case: The British government is facing criticism of cozying up to Beijing after prosecutors suddenly dropped charges against two alleged Chinese spies as the U.K. government refused to label China a “threat to national security” in court. Christopher Cash (pictured) and Christopher Berry were arrested in 2023. They have denied they violated the U.K.’s Official Secrets Act. (WSJ)

Oracle hack touches more than 100 companies, Google security researchers say. The cyberattack on Oracle's enterprise software appears to have begun three months ago by the Clop ransomware group, Google said Thursday. Clop members have contacted executives at breached companies in an extortion campaign. (Reuters)

Image breach: Photos of about 70,000 Discord users were stolen in an attack on a company the messaging platform uses to verify a person's age. Discord, which didn't name the company, said it has cut off the provider's access to Discord's systems. (BBC)

AI and speech-recognition company Nuance Communications has agreed to settle a data-breach lawsuit related to the 2023 cyberattack on file-transfer software known as MoveIt. Under the proposed deal, Nuance, a unit of Microsoft, would pay $8.5 million. A federal judge in Boston is due to issue a final ruling on the settlement March 31. 

  • Progress Software, which owns MoveIt, is embroiled in dozens of lawsuits over the incident, many of which have been consolidated in federal court in Boston.

Renault is notifying an undisclosed number of customers that their personal and vehicle information was accessed in a recent cyberattack at a business partner that processes information for the auto maker. Renault didn't name the partner. (Wards Auto)
