JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 10 - 8 November 2019 Construction on the Karangahape Road Enhancements project is in full swing at each end of the street and our teams have achieved significant progress. Here’s an overview of what we’ve achieved since our last update. Symonds Street corner to Upper Queen Street From Symonds Street to Upper Queen Street, our team has been busy installing the new kerb lines for the footpath, road and cycleway. Under a night shift, our crews poured the concrete footpath base and we are currently making excellent progress with the paving along the shop fronts. On Upper Queen Street, we are underway installing the new cycleway traffic islands. Ponsonby Road corner to overbridge Utilities work at the corner of Ponsonby Road and Karangahape Road is complete and the new kerblines are being laid towards Hereford Street. The new concrete footpath along the shopfronts, from Mobil to Expert Shoe Repairs is being poured this Saturday. Raingarden construction continues between Hereford Street and Howe Street, with the concrete base being poured today. Next week works will start to build in the internal walls of the raingarden and installation of kerblines. Construction of the raingarden on Howe Street will commence next week. From Howe Street to the overbridge, demolition of the carriageway and drainage piloting is complete. Underground services and drainage works will continue next week. Upper Queen to Mercury Lane We have set up to work in this section by the pedestrian crossing. Piloting for underground services has begun. From Tuesday 12th November 2019, our work site will extend the full length of Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane and demolition of the kerbline and carriageway will commence. New paving installation along the shops next to the cemetery Raingarden under construction between Hereford and Howe Streets UPCOMING NIGHT WORKSAs part of construction for the Karangahape Road Enhancements project, we will be undertaking night works. Ponsonby Road to Hereford Street - Footpath ClosureOn Friday 8th November 2019, from the Mobil driveway next to Eighthirty Cafe to Expert Shoe Repairs, we will be removing the temporary layer of asphalt and preparing the footpath for concrete on Saturday. These works are planned for night to minimise the impact of construction to businesses during the day. During the night works and the concrete pour, footpath access to these businesses will be closed however pedestrian access along this area will be maintained. Detours and signage will be in place to guide pedestrians. Full pedestrian access will be returned for Sunday morning. Howe StreetPiloting works across Howe Street at the Karangahape Road intersection is expected to be undertaken from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th November 2019. During the night works, Howe Street will be still accessible for vehicles around our work site. The road will be fully reopened and available for vehicles during the day.
