Official Opening of Bressington Park
Bressington Park is finally opening to the public! After extensive renovations which include new playing fields, a playground, cycleway, an upgraded amenities block and new cricket nets, we’re excited to hold Strathfield Christmas Carols as the first event at Bressington Park following the opening!
When: Saturday 8 December from 2pm, official opening at 4:30pm,
carols to follow at 6pm
Where: Bressington Park, Homebush
Captain Barnacles at Bressington Park
Captain Barnacles, a brave polar bear and leader of the Octonauts crew will be on hand opening the new park and kicking off Christmas Carols! Come and watch him at centre stage as he unveils the discoveries of his undersea adventures! There will also be a family picnic, jumping castle, petting zoo, food stalls, community Christmas performances, a special movie screening of Elf and stunning fireworks display!

Share Love, Share Dignity!
Spread kindness and donate a handbag filled with personal care and feminine hygiene products for women experiencing homelessness, poverty and domestic violence. We are at 131 handbags and counting! Collection points are available at Strathfield Council Customer Service and Strathfield Library until Monday 3 December 2018.
Strathfield Cleaned Out
Thank you to the 220 people who attended Council’s latest Chemical Clean Out Day and ensured that nearly 9.5kg in household chemicals were disposed of thoughtfully. Keep your eyes peeled for Council’s next Chemical Clean Out.

Having been accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised by Santa’s elves, the adult Buddy travels to New York in search of his true identity. Join us for Movies in the Park special screening of Elf after Strathfield Christmas Carols!

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
It’s time to put your creative skills to the test! Strathfield Council’s Christmas Light Competition is now open with prizes awarded to the top 3 entrants! Get out your fairy lights, Santa and his reindeers, the Nativity set and start decorating! Submit your application by 5pm on Friday 14 December 2018.
Citizen of the Year Awards
Nominate your local hero! Strathfield Council is seeking nominations for people who make Strathfield a better place. Do you know someone who generously volunteers their time, effort and skills to help others in their community? The Citizen of the Year Awards 2019 is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge their service. So nominate now! Applications are open until Friday 11 January 2019.
Connect with Neighbour Day 2019!
Care to share a cuppa with your neighbour? Join Relationships Australia for Neighbour Day on Sunday 31 March 2019. The aim is to foster strong relationships and support vulnerable, elderly and lonely members in our community. You can register to host an event or invite a group of people for a picnic in the park to get your community connected! More information and resources are available online.

Former Strathfield Library
The High Street Library was Strathfield’s Central Library from 1967 until a new two-storey library at 65 Rochester Street was officially opened by the Mayor Alderman Clarrie Edwards in 1976. Following the library opening, the old Library on Parramatta Road closed and the High Street Library became the branch Library.

Feed a Farmer for Christmas
The stallholders of Sydney Markets are hosting “Feed a Farmer for Christmas” featuring Cowboy Cha Cha Line Dancing, Rodeo Rides, farmyard animals, giveaways and more. The CWA will be on site also, selling strawberry jam in support of strawberry farmers. Come along for some fun and bring non-perishable food to donate to farmers in need.
