Throwback ThursdaysFishmonger, William HarrisonIn the State Library of NSW is an album of photographs belonging to William Harrison. This photo shows his fish shop at 28 The Boulevarde, Strathfield during the early 1930s. Having moved from Queensland, he and his wife, Eva lived above the shop, which still stands. Next door at number 26 was Frank Sherer’s bootmaker’s shop and that is probably Frank on the left, with Eva and William Harrison and their son. Sherer was a returned soldier from World War I and had established his shop here by 1925. The fish shop was opened in about 1930. Image courtesy Mitchell Library, State Library of NSW |
