Upper Queen Street to Mercury LaneWe have completed the paving and new kerbline at the Upper Queen Street corner. Upcoming works - what to expect:
Upcoming night works what to expect: Night works are expected to take place from Wednesday 24 June at the Upper Queen Street corner to move the existing traffic light. These night works are taking place in the evening due to lower pedestrian and vehicle numbers as changes to traffic management are required. To do this safely there will be changes to vehicle and pedestrian access during these works and diversions will be in place. Works include moving the existing traffic light to a temporary drum so that work on the kerbline can continue, and relocating existing infrastructure out of the carriageway. This work is expected to take three nights to complete, starting from 19:30 to 04:30 each night. Please note there will be intermittent medium to high volume noise, i.e. grinding but we will endeavour to have noisy works completed by 10:30pm Mercury Lane to West TerraceUpcoming works - what to expect:
Temporary Traffic management change - East Street: When we return in late June to construct the speed table there will be a change to the temporary traffic management West Terrace temporary road closure - planned start end June: Work to construct the speed table in West Terrace is planned to start end-June, subject to traffic management approval. Due to the narrow nature of West Terrace, a temporary road closure is required to construct the speed table. There will be no access to West Terrace via Karangahape Road. Vehicle access will be provided to residents only via Galatos Street. Pedestrian access from Karangahape Road to West Terrace will be unavailable during working hours. However, in the evenings, we will reduce our working space/fencing and make pedestrian access available. During the day pedestrian access to Karangahape Road from West Terrace will be via East Street and Galatos Street. This work is expected to take 6 weeks. OverbridgeThe steel work for the overbridge has been delivered and installation has commenced. Coloured surfacing of the cycleway on both sides of the overbridge has also commenced with an additional treatments to be completed over a two week period Upcoming works - what to expect:

However, as works are progressing we can facilitate a soft opening of the cycleway now instead of opening it fully at the end of the project. In conjunction with AT and Bike Auckland we are opening sections of the cycleway - there will be temporary signage and road markings to help guide cyclists on along the cycleway. Please follow these signs and dismount when required While this "soft opening" will allow cyclists to utilise sections of the cycleway that do not have active construction in them, it is important to note that construction work will take place later at some of these ‘open’ cycleway sections to finalise construction. In these instances, we will have the relevant traffic management in place to indicate these work locations but we will endeavour to maintain cycleway access. Temporary road markings are completed on the eve of the opening. The following are planned sections to be opened - dates will be confirmed in the upcoming newsletters: Ponsonby to Hereford Street: Wednesday 24 June 9am Hereford Street to Howe Street (Dismount before Howe Street): TBC Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane: TBC Overbridge North Side: TBC Overbridge South Side: TBC Photo: Cycleway signage STAGING & LOADING ZONESUpcoming section: The section between Queen Street and Pitt Street commences after the section between Symonds Street and Queen Street is complete.
