Recent media reports have suggested that the new Cabinet is reviewing its position in regards to amalgamations. In a Party Room meeting of Government Members of Parliament, Ms Berejiklian emphasised she was a consultative premier and would listen before making any decisions.

Strathfield Council continues to review its legal options in light of any new developments regarding amalgamation.

Merger Survey

Please take a moment to answer a short 2 question survey on the proposed merger of Strathfield, Burwood and City of Canada Bay Councils.

TAKE THE SURVEY

Councillors and members of staff recently met for a workshop on the direction of Strathfield Council. The day was a great success with many positive outcomes including the allocation of key priorities for Council over the next four years. Some of these priorities include:

  • The establishment of an Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel at Strathfield
  • Strengthen Urban Design and Heritage Standards on development proposals
  • Continue to invest in renewable energies

Strathfield Council is looking forward to working with the community on these priorities and providing a brighter future for the area.

Don’t surprise your loved one with weeds this Valentine’s Day!

Flowers are the number one gift given on Valentine’s Day, but some bouquets can include species that have the potential to threaten our bushland and waterways. Council has been working with local florists to implement best practice and protect the state of NSW from the spread of invasive weed species. Help nip the problem in the bud by asking your flower retailer whether any of the species you are buying have weedy potential.

Albert Road Postcard

The image is of a postcard featuring Albert Road Strathfield, which was sent in January 1915.  The postcard was published by F. Guthrey, a newsagent in Strathfield.  However, the card states it was ‘Made in Germany’ for reasons unknown. The change in the landscape of Albert Road is remarkable!
