He’s also working on a much anticipated new EP which arrives this fall and is the follow up to his widely acclaimed album This Is Steve. NPR Music described This Is Steve, as “an instrumental guitar-rock record that's actually a joy to listen to”, while Pitchfork heralded the talented multi-instrumentalist as a “modern day guitar hero.” Delicate Steve was first recognized by an impressive list of fellow musicians including David Byrne, Dirty Projectors, tUnE-yArDs, Dr. Dog, Lee Ranaldo and Built to Spill. He is likely the only guitarist who has recorded with Death Grip's Zach Hill and provided guitar for a Paul Simon record. He also produced and played all the instruments on This Is Steve. Acclaim For This Is Steve: “This Is Steve is an invigorating blast of instrumental rock. Most of the time, his guitar playing is anything but delicate; It stings, shouts, flits and bequiles, often with uninhibited joy. Its energy extends outward; that is, there are no self-indulgent note blizzards or pompoous dinosaur stomps. This Is Steve is good fuzzy fun” - The Wall St. Journal “Delicate Steve's debut for the Anti- label, seems to race by in flashes of color and bursts of sound that leave the listener with more than a few earworm melodies buzzing around the brain " - Relix “The tunes on this record are rangy, loose-limbed, and strange; his influences as diverse as J.J. Cale, ZZ Top, and the aforementioned Rolling Stones. He's a rarity, with great hair, and a tattoo of Zappa's mustache on the back of his left arm." - Noisey “On his latest, guitarist Delicate Steve seems interested in animating rock’n’roll’s most outrageous qualities, using his studio savvy to make it do all the things it
can’t in real life.” - Pitchfork Live Dates: August 15 BSP Kingston (Backroom Theater) Kingston, NY Opening for Grizzly Bear +With The Growlers |
