Winter 2019 Premiers & Runners Up (JNR & SNR)

JUNIORS:
The Winter Junior Comp has recently concluded with successful outcomes for club teams.  Of 13 teams entered, 8 finished in the finals, and of these we had 3 Premiers and 1 Runners-up.

Well done to all players (and parents), and especially to team managers who do such a great job in organising the teams each week.  (See photos below)

SENIORS:
From our 10 Senior teams (spread over Pennant, Bayside & Eastern Region) 4 made finals and our ERT team came away with Runners Up, by one set. (see photo below)

Sunday Rubbers - B3 PREMIERS

L-R: Sam L & Josh D

It's been a great season for the boys who have been dominate in this section, though they were really tested in the GF by the Burwood team with the closet day of the season to decide the winner.  It's great to see Josh and Sam achieve the win after a few seasons together, well done boys!!

Sunday Triples - C4 PREMIERS

L-R: James T, Sam F, Hamish McE

Hamish, James and Sam had a great season of tennis - they remained undefeated during each round.  Regardless, on Sunday the game against Springvale was still very hard work - they felt they were deserving winners.  They are looking forward to the Summer Season and the challenges it will bring.

Saturday Triples - D Special 3 - Runners Up

L-R: Vincent G, Theo G, Scarlett H, Blake H

Fantastic effort by the team, with a great effort for their second season playing Junior Comp.

Saturday Triples - C3 Boys - PREMIERS

L-R: Josh McV, George A, Jack McC, Walter A, Jack U

Congratulations to the boys for their season . The highlight for me was the effort and standard that the six boys brought to the finals - that should give them a lot of confidence as to how well they can play, and provide a good launching pad for their tennis next season. The ‘what just happened then’ moment, was provided today by our perennial favorite (PF) who served twice to make it 30-0, his opponent then served to make it 30-15, & then our PF resumed serving. Hadn’t seen that one before - reminded me of that famous Forrest Gump line: ‘life is like a box of chocolates- you never know what you’re gonna get’! Well done boys! Keep practicing your tennis and look forward to next session. Cheers Nick

Eastern Regional Tennis (ERT) Sat S/D Sec 2 - Runners Up

L-R: Matt Bourke, Martin Hill, Heath Poustie, Chris Woods.

Great effort by the Green team this season, finishing second on the ladder and playing a very closely fought final, losing by one set in the end.
